TripleMA is set up specifically to teach & train in one of the most physically demanding sports around today: A training ring & cage are set up and are available for practice so students can learn the most important skills, commonly known as ring craft. A 5 inch thick open floor for take downs allows for hard training in the safest way. A range of hanging bags, other equipment and the floor - training on an individual basis as well as with partners, are used to focus on speed, power and technique; the gym environment is used to promote one purpose - development. There is no wasted valuable space on exercise bikes or resistance machines; we are not a fitness gym, we are a specialist gym. Our aim is to teach & train at the highest level we can.
The new grading system to the Club means each student will be examined on a wide range of skills at each level, ensuring that they are competent & have not developed bad habits whilst training. This is an advance to other MMA gyms, the feeling can be very similar to competition so that valuable experience is gained. The student also gains a breakdown in feedback of what they are good at & what they can improve on. Fitness plays a roll in gradings, so an assault course is incorporated in training - using skill, strength, power, speed & stamina based on a five minute round for endurance development. Being fit for this sport is after all essential, but is achieved as a by product of training.
MMA is so variable, it feels exhilarating, fun and a challenge. This is a sport you will stick to & achieve skills in a wide range of disciplines. We have cut the fat to do this - techniques practiced in other forms that we consider unnecessary, we do not use. Obviously if we are training for a Gi or non-Gi fight, a boxing or kickboxing fight, we adopt a more specific focus, mainly by training within the given rules.
If you are a total beginner or an existing Martial Artist you will find my club full of character & personal a great atmosphere to train in. I hope that this has been of use to you.
